About
The Peace River Regional District is developing their first Regional Growth Strategy (RGS) for the region. It’s a long-range, high-level plan that will help them better understand and prepare for the potential changes that can be expected over the next 20-years with a growing population, new service demands, the regional economy, and a changing climate.
The RGS will be developed over the next year or so with municipal member partners – City of Dawson Creek, City of Fort St. John, District of Taylor, District of Chetwynd, District of Hudson’s Hope, District of Tumbler Ridge, and the Village of Pouce Coupe. It will include a guiding regional vision and set out broad goals on topics like transportation, housing, parks and natural areas, and the regional economy. It will not regulate land use like Official Community Plans or zoning bylaws.
